Glenn Mahaffey

Our Priest

The Rev. Glenn Mahaffey is serving as our priest at Trinity Memorial Church.

Glenn was raised in Montgomery, Alabama in the midst of the civil rights movement. He left the south to attend college in Gunnison, Colorado. He spent five years as a High School teacher in Montrose, Colorado before attending Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. Glenn was ordained in 1985 in Colorado, and has served parishes in Nebraska, Central New York, Maine and Pennsylvania.Glenn has served on various diocesan committees, including the Commission on Ministry, Diocesan Board, Recovery Commission and he was a Fresh Start facilitator for several years in Central New York. He has also served on county and community boards dealing with restorative justice, homelessness and emergency housing, mental illness, alcohol and drug recovery, feeding programs, local health networking, and local neighbor helping neighbor programs. He was a founding member of the first homeless shelter in North Platte, Nebraska and served on a court appointed team to mediate a settlement between the shelter board and the downtown merchants association, who had filed a law suit to prevent the shelter from opening..

One of Glenn’s passions is discovering insights into ways to live out the ancient Christian faith in a modern context. He enjoys history and experiencing many different forms of art. Glenn lives in Norwich, NY with his wife, Naomi and their daughter, Heavenly.

After having been with us for a year as supply-priest, we have warmly welcomed Glenn as Priest in Charge effective January 1, 2017.

Vickie Perazzini

Our Parish Secretary

Vickie recently moved from Watkins Glen, where she was a legal secretary to the County Attorney and also owned and operated a B&B right in the village. She is originally from the Castle Creek/Whitney Point area where she grew up, and is thrilled to be back in her hometown. She now lives in Port Dickinson and is near both of her sons, who are Veterans, and her six grandchildren. She has always loved this beautiful church and is very happy to be a part of it.

Rayleen Kie

Our Pastoral Care Coordinator

Rayleen Kie

Rayleen Kie  is focusing on our own pastoral care programs – helping Fr. Glenn and our own social and  Eucharistic Visitors reach out to all looking for extra support from their congregation.  Rayleen is also working to make our offerings and services for our surrounding community more visible, using both traditional (radio and print) and social media.

She earned a Bachelor of Music Degree cum laude from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her degree work was in Voice performance and Choral conducting with an additional 35 hours for Certification in Church Music. Prior to coming to the Binghamton area, Rayleen served as Director of Music Ministry in Cary, NC, Williamsburg, VA, Richmond, VA, and Tacoma, WA.

 

Rayleen also did Master’s degree work at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, in Marriage and Family Counseling.

Rayleen is also a member of Trinity Memorial's Choir.

Randall W. Frye

Our Director of Music

Randall Frye is in his eleventh year as an educator and is in his fourth year at Canton Jr./Sr. High School in Pennsylvania. Previously he worked as a choir director at Lawrence Public Schools in Lawrence, KS (2014-2021). 

Hailing from Polk, Pennsylvania, Randy completed a Master’s degree in vocal performance at Kansas State University in 2014. His music education degree (Fall 2011) comes from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, PA where he studied voice, organ, piano, and musical theater. IUP offered many enriching experiences in his educational journey. 

Randy had the opportunity to pursue organ studies with Dr. Christine Clewell where he was extensively trained in church music. That tutelage led to an appointment as the Organist at First Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, KS, housing a 2-manual, 29 rank Reuter refurbishment, Opus II/29 (2012) of a Möller, Opus 10,342 (1968). Randy is currently the Director of Music at Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church in Binghamton, NY, which houses an updated Cassavant-Frères. The update was done by Smith & Gilbert Pipe Organs out of western New York. This tutelage has led to many opportunities in his professional life, including directing the world premiere of Rachel Laurin’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

While organ studies were a primary focus of his studies, Randy was also very active in the vocal area as well. Randy studied voice and musical theater studies with Dr. Sarah Mantel and Dr. Joseph Baunoch, where he was extensively trained in music direction and accompanying. That tutelage led to many opportunities including work at the Post Playhouse as an accompanist for a Summer stock season. Randy’s theater credit’s include over 50 shows and many accompanying engagements. 

Lately, Randy has started to work with some of PMEA’s District Choir events including engagements with District III and District VIII. He was recently selected to serve as a member of the Carol Teti Memorial Scholarship Committee, an IUP scholarship specific to the tutelage of organ students. He is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association, the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, the American Guild of Organists,  and the National Association for Music Education. Randy makes his home in Troy, PA with his cats Tiberius and Drusilla.

Chris Brown

Our Financial Secretary

Chris Brown works part-time as our Financial Secretary. Chris was appointed to this position December 2015 . He has over 30 years of financial experience with IBM and retired in 2012. Chris enjoys bowling, golf & music performances with his wife Lori at various venues in the Southern Tier. Chris can be reached Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

David Brown

Our Sunday Sexton

David Brown, a life-long member of Trinity Memorial, is our Sunday Sexton. His father was the Sunday Sexton for years, and upon his death, David stepped into the position. David is here every Sunday morning, taking care of all the details, logistics and security for our Sunday worship. He prepares the coffee hour between services, and assists where ever needed. David worked over 20 years in Flight Simulation as a Systems Engineer, trainer and team leader. He shares his knowledge of computers and computer programs, volunteering with our tech team. He is a math and engineering tutor for the Learning Assistance Department at SUNY Broome Community College. David is actively involved with the Trinity Community Canteen, and at present is the head of the Altar Guild.
